The LOLcat translator project started from a question, "can we make a LOLcat translator for generic English text?". In contrast to available translators of English to various lingos, such a task would require extraction of generic rules for converting English phrases. This aim was eventually proved to be feasible and resulted to the LOLcatizer translation engine.
Then there was another target, to make the LOLcatized text read funny or even hillarious. To this end the need for context extraction in which words and phrases are used was essential. This was another bet which we endevoured to explore and the results have been encouraging, resulting to the current state of the translator.
Developing this translator was fun as well as revealing of posibilities which had not been explored before. Users should understand that this LOLcat translation project keeps improving everytime someone makes suggestions, reports an error, or gives us an idea.
